The London Marathon

So who got in then?
Thinking of doing it for a charity we do a lot of work for but it would be a case of going for couch to marathon. Is it possible in 6 - 7 months with serious dedication?

Failed to get in through the ballet but it was my first time trying.
I've entered Manchester instead and whilst it's a long shot, I'm going to try for a Good For Age time to qualify for London next year.
I think you can achieve a couch the Marathon so long as you're not 20 stone and just want to finish.
It'll be an amazing feeling to finish it if you've not done much running. But fucking hard too!

Same Buster, really thought I had to get lucky this time. Done it before and what gets me is losers who you see doing it who walk after a mile or so! Incredible, I honestly think there should be a level of ability before you get in.

3rd rejection, I've done Paris, Brighton and Berlin this year.why such the long wait for ballot results, berlin ballot is less than a month wait, so is Tokyo.
London just seems to be full of corporate wankers, expensive charity places and walkers. one day i may run it but theres lots better out there.

Not looking forward to the winter training but the day is amazing.

Is New York the same as London? Ie a Ballot entry? Can you also qualify through running a GFA time?

I believe it's a ballot, the GFA standards are harsher than London. Did mine on a charity place though.

International place is about £285 or can go through 209 events.

I'm going to try for a Boston 3:10 or London 3:05 next year and see how that goes.
If it goes well I might consider going for the NY GFA time of 2:55 at a later date but I'm talking a good few years considering my current PB is 3:29 in my one and only marathon in Paris this year!

3:29 is quality for a first mara scott. Which age group you in?
Missed out on London for 3rd time. Did my first (Chester) a couple of weeks ago, 3:41. Loved it and will do another, but will probably stick to the summer/autumn ones (unless I get lucky and get a London place in the future). The long training runs in the dark are fucking miserable.

I ran it in 2011 for an east London charity. Started training in September, so seven and a half months. Had previously never run more than 2 miles in one go. And I was around 15 stone when I started training (down to 13.5 the evening after the race).
So yeah, very doable. I used the adidas micoach app all the way through. Came up with an overall plan for me, then barked times, pace, distance etc. into my ears over my music when I was running.
